Thank you to all of you who came out to support the Evergreen Animal Protective League this past weekend! There were dogs available for adoption, great gifts at great prices, and photos with Santa! It was a gorgeous, sunny day here in Evergreen and the setting for our photos was perfect (kudos to the EAPL design team!). If you’re interested in adopting, there are still many great dogs available. Here are photos from the event and some of these dogs are still looking for a good family and a forever home. Also below is a sampling of our fun shots with Santa and with our beautiful Colorado setting. All the money raised from this shoot goes directly to EAPL, a 100% volunteer organization. Read more about EAPL here and consider how you can help this holiday season!...
Join fellow photographer Melissa Korbe and myself this Saturday at the Bergen Park Fire Station in Evergreen as we photograph your kids – furry and not-furry – with Santa! Each $25 sitting gives you time with the big, jolly guy in the red suit and 3 digital images, emailed to your inbox. All proceeds go to benefit the Evergreen Animal Protective League. They do good work, helping our voiceless friends find forever homes with good families. In fact, you can find yourself a new family member at this event – animals available for adoption will be there tomorrow! Please read more about what EAPL does by clicking HERE. I found my own fur-baby with the help of EAPL! Hope to see you there. Check the flyer below for more details on time and location....
One of the most common questions I get as clients and I work together to plan for their photo session is: What do I wear? This is a simple but really important question and the more thought and preparation that can go into this before the shoot, the better your images will look and the happier you’ll be. And that’s all I really want at the end of the day. Happy You. 🙂 So what DO you wear? The question might be simple, but the answer is not so much. As a starting point, I say: What is your style – be true to it, but take it up a notch. If you’re a jeans and cowboy boots kinda gal, be sure to polish those boots (or use this as an excuse to splurge on those ones you’ve been eyeing for the last year) and wear jeans that flatter your figure. I think a photo session is a great excuse to freshen up your wardrobe – with accessories if nothing else. And consider your session the chance to be playful with your style and have fun. If you dream about wearing a big poufy dress with the guys in your family all wearing tuxes and top hats, do it! That’s awesome (and call me immediately if you haven’t already – I want to be the one to shoot this). Next: What is your intention with your photographs? Will they hang in your formal living room on the mantle of your fireplace? Or will they be in your child’s brightly colored room? Thinking about the location you’ll be displaying your...
A huge thank you from the Women of Evergreen Business to everyone who supported the Broad Stripes Bright Stars fundraising event this weekend. We had a big – and enthusiastic – turnout from the community, heard some amazing stories, and had a great time with good music and delicious food. The funds raised from this event go to Project Sanctuary. Project Sanctuary provides a therapeutic, curative, and supportive camp experience for military service members returning from our nation’s wars and conflicts, and their families. See all images – and download – here: http://katymosesphotography.shootproof.com/BrightStars It is a sad statistic that every day approximately 22 veterans commit suicide. Of the 2.5 million men and women who have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan 1 in 50 returns home with physical disabilities, and 1 in 5 comes back with traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder, alcoholism, anxiety, and or depression. While service men and women have been deeply affected, their families have also been harmed by this disruption and stress. Child abuse and neglect triples when a parent is deployed and government statistics indicate that in 2004, 1.1 million children were maltreated in enlisted soldiers’ families. Project Sanctuary addresses the need to help the whole family reintegrate, helping our nation’s heroes finally come home. Of the 1,000 active duty military and veteran participants that Project Sanctuary has helped, there have been NO suicides, and 90% of couples are still together. Following the family retreat at Project Sanctuary, participants are provided support for two years. Currently there is a waiting list of 1,300 families waiting to attend as it is the only program of its kind in the country. To learn...
