Mini Muse Sessions | Art Portrait Photographer in Evergreen, Colorado

Introducing Muse Mini Sessions Your feedback to the Muse Sessions (www.muse-sessions.com) has been amazing and heart-warming. It means so much to me that this concept connects to so many of you – the idea of taking our time together to a higher level and capturing images that tell a story and let YOU tell your story. I love it. Our recent gallery show had a great turn out – I loved seeing each and every one of you there and appreciate that you came out for our Muses. ♥ I believe this is so important and such a soul-strengthening experience, I want to make Muse Sessions accessible to more people – everyone who loves this should be able to experience it. I’ve created a couple of options to make it easier to say ‘Heck ya, Katy-lady – sign me up!’ 1. Payment Plans. Break up payments to work with your budget. Whether that means 2 – or more – payments, we will accommodate. 2. Mini Muse Sessions! These are slightly shorter Muse sessions and – while you’ll still get amazing attention and images – the goodies are trimmed down and your gallery show will be with more ladies. In cahoots – styled photoshoot with Dare Boutique and Alpine Ridge Salon | Portrait and Senior Photographer in Evergreen Colorado.

We almost thought we were going to get a spring snow shoot. But the flurries were so elusive and flurried that we never seemed to get them in our shots. Even so, I’m loving what came out of this session. Miss Em is wearing new arrivals from Dare Boutique in Evergreen (also in Denver) and Marian was our hair stylist, Sasha was our makeup artist. Both Marian and Sasha can be found at Alpine Ridge Salon & Spa. I love Emily’s range of expressions and looks in these series of images. She looks like different famous actresses – it changes from image to image. What do you think? As always, I love to hear your thoughts – comment below! xo,...

Senior Model Season – Class of 2014 | High School Senior Portrait Photographer in Evergreen Colorado.

Our Miss Leah is winding up her senior year at D’Evelyn High School and in the fall will be heading to a small university in Iowa. It’s sad to see these great girls go, but at the same time, so excellent to see them grow and take on the new challenges of life. I’m excited to see where the next few years take Leah!  Some of us are forever nostalgic and need to hold onto the moment. For those who need to cling, here’s a look-back at Leah’s highlight reel from her senior portrait sessions:...

Portraiture Art – In the River | Creative Art Portraits in Evergreen Colorado

Photoshoot concepts sometimes come with premeditation, sometimes they come on-the-fly. Often, for me, it’s a combination. I’ll hear about some photographers who will fully map out a shoot and have a firm strategy before the shutter snaps once. I think that’s amazing and I wonder if that’s something to aspire to achieve? Maybe. I don’t know if my brain will every be that organized. For this shoot, I had a strong vision going in of exactly what I wanted. And I got it (secret: it’s the fifth image from the top). But then I kept shooting, playing with angles and working with Charistina’s ideas and what she brought to the table (creek, ground, whatever). And I loved these even more. Welcome to images that I love and that were started with a simple idea and then – with intention, conversation, meditation and experimenting with angles and with post-processing became something I will always hold dear.  This shoot was done in collaboration with Charistina Armbruster, an amazing model, creative thinker, and someone who gets things done. She is warm and kind – an all-around wonderful person. The beauty you see here is on par with what she carries inside. I share these images and hope you feel a connection to them as well. The first shot was featured in Vogue Italia’s online publication (very exciting for both Charistina and me!). You can click on the image to visit the Vogue Italia site.     xo, Katy...

Introducing the Evergreen High School Senior Model – Class of 2014

I’m totally thrilled to introduce my Evergreen High School senior model for the class of 2014.   Derrien Riggio, currently a junior at EHS, loves to hike and play competitive volleyball and hang out with friends. Her favorite subjects to study are anatomy and biology, which will serve her well since she’d like to be a nurse (an ER nurse!). She’d like to use her nursing skills to travel the world doing medical relief work. How awesome is that?  She loves her Evergreen town and high school community and the small-town feel – you know everybody you meet. Derrien has already travelled to many places in and out of the country. She’s been to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and to her favorite – Costa Rica.     After she graduates from EHS, she hopes to study locally at either Regis University or University of Colorado at Denver.    At her 10-year high school reunion, she’s planning to be living back in Evergreen, working as an ER nurse, with a family and still traveling the world. Love it!    (Here is MY favorite image from our winter shoot… It was COLD – Derrien is a total trooper. A true model. )    And here are a few more favorites from our shoot. I’d like to give a special thanks to Dare Boutique in Evergreen. They styled outfits for us and gave us a wonderful experience at their shop. Their service and expertise are fantastic. They give solid advice and have a good eye for what looks good on different body types and age-appropriate trends. Be sure to like them on...

Meet Leslie – Yogini, chantress and opera-lover | Moden Glamour Makeover Portrait Session in Evergreen, Colorado

Leslie Wagner came to my studio last August. We did a makeover glamour session as well as some yoga asana shots for her website. Leslie is a yoga teacher, mother of two sons, former tennis player and all-around super-cool lady. She was kind enough to be the first person I’m interviewing for my blog. Possibly the first person I’ve interviewed, ever. Thanks Leslie! One of Leslie’s earliest memories is of laying in her crib, listening to her mother sing. She herself loves to sing, is an opera fan (surprised?), and has an amazing voice. If you’ve ever joined Leslie for one of her yoga classes, you know what I mean. Her sanskrit chants resonate with depth, meaning and beauty. I jokingly call her Sunday morning class “Leslie-Church” because she is so good at awakening my spiritual side and creates a space of reverence for all the gifts of life.Leslie has been teaching and studying yoga for 35 years and is also a lover of the Sanskrit chants she is a truly gifted chantress. She views teaching as a means to help raise consciousness and to transmit light energy to her students. She believes a teacher is to live as an example, to ‘walk the talk’ and to use moderation in all things. Teaching yoga is not like teaching math or reading, it is more about raising awareness, connecting to people, helping them feel loved and noticed. As a yoga instructor, she’s also put in a place of trust-keeping and as an unofficial therapist. People find that they can really share and open up to her as she is someone who helps to open...
