A huge thank you from the Women of Evergreen Business to everyone who supported the Broad Stripes Bright Stars fundraising event this weekend. We had a big – and enthusiastic – turnout from the community, heard some amazing stories, and had a great time with good music and delicious food. The funds raised from this event go to Project Sanctuary. Project Sanctuary provides a therapeutic, curative, and supportive camp experience for military service members returning from our nation’s wars and conflicts, and their families. Of the 2.5 million men and women who have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan 1 in 50 returns home with physical disabilities, and 1 in 5 comes back with traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder, alcoholism, anxiety, and or depression. While service men and women have been deeply affected, their families have also been harmed by this disruption and stress. Child abuse and neglect triples when a parent is deployed and government statistics indicate that in 2004, 1.1 million children were maltreated in enlisted soldiers’ families. Project Sanctuary addresses the need to help the whole family reintegrate, helping our nation’s heroes finally come home. Of the 1,000 active duty military and veteran participants that Project Sanctuary has helped, there have been NO suicides, and 90% of couples are still together. Following the family retreat at Project Sanctuary, participants are provided support for two years. The Farm Credit National Communications team knows how to do it right. They balance an incredible work ethic with time for fun team activities. Their recent headshot session at our studio was no exception. They made it a Ladies Day Out and had a great time, but still managed to do quite a bit of work in the middle of it. Last Friday we hosted a fundraiser at the studio, taking head shot images of participants, with 100% of session fees going towards the Kyrie Foundation. We had a great turnout of generous folks and we had a really great time. It was so much fun to photograph and to raise funds for such a great cause. I’d like to give an extra big thank you to my hair and makeup artist, Karinna Wurth, who donated her time and talents to give some extra pampering to those who wanted it. We know how to live it up over here! Our event raised over $300, which is a very small drop in the big bucket of need, but it is definitely a step in the right direction. Along with raising dollars, my goal is to raise awareness of pediatric brain cancer and for the Kyrie Foundation, and their fight to find preventions and a cure. Why do I post Before & After images, you ask? Well, because you want to see them! But wait, you ask (ask as many questions as you like, they’re my favorite), do these ladies really want their Before images up for the world to see? Aren’t they hesitant to show these images side-by-side? Well, I answer, the reason I post these (with permission) is to show how accessible the After is to everyone. This magical transformation is our specialty. It’s what we love to do and we know that you are intrigued by it too. The Before & After page gets the most traffic of any on my website (thank you Google Analytics, for allowing me to stalk my own website). But the real magic is that the After image is still you – little ol’ you – just awesomeized, radiant. Yay! Welcome to the new website for Katy Moses Photography. I’m happy to have you here as we celebrate many fun and exciting changes this year. In late Spring, I made the switch to full-time photography (from interior design), and I opened a studio just a few weeks ago! It’s still in-progress, but the light is amazing and I’ve already had several killer photo sessions there. I cannot wait to do more! Moving into this studio location, I’ve found a new niche of wonderfulness: the ability to have a place where women can relax, be pampered in a full makeover session and then capture their beauty in a nice, light, bright and cheerful studio space. How cool is that? I’m looking for more ladies to take advantage of this modern glamour experience. This is not the Glamour Shots of the 80s… this is about you, today, looking like you should be gracing the cover of a magazine today. You’ll be put in the capable hands of a professional hair and makeup artist who will work with you, defining and highlighting your features – as much or as little as you want.
